Racing Divisions

Modifies

The intent of this division is to bring the Modifieds back to the weekly racing program at T.S.S. at an affordable dollar. This modified car has the same appearance as its big sisters and brothers, the true open modified car that races on the many tours and divisions through New England. The rules limit the engine (The only engine allowed is the G.M. part #88958602 GMR 350/350 circle track engine and checked out by R.P.M.), carburetor, transmission, clutch, shocks and exhaust. T.S.S. feels that with the rules will open the doors for anyone who may want to drive a modified car. The minimum car weight before any race is 2593 lbs. with 15 inch tires.

Late Models

These cars are designed with the serious racer in mind. These cars are sophisticated purpose built tube chassis race cars designed to provide great performance and close racing while keeping the racing affordable for the racers.  The Late Models are also the pioneers of our Crate Motor program, which is designed to put all the teams on a level playing field while keeping the engine costs down verses "pro" built motors.

There are two options that can be used in this division:

Option 1 is the standard metric frame chassis that is common at most tracks in Northern New England.  In the option one rules you can also use a Camaro snout with leaf springs in the rear.

Option 2 in the Pro Late Models uses a little more of a fabricators' imagination.  The classis can be fabricated from the front to the back.  The front frame section must be 2' x 4' steel box tubing.  The rest can be 2' x 3' steel box tubing.  The suspension has set specifications that must be followed.

The engines and drive train in both options is the same.  The competitor can use the typical steel head holly two barrel engine or a G.M. ZZ4 part #88958603 out of the crate engine with no modifications.

The G.M. crate engine can use either a Holley 500 cfm. carburetor or a Street Demon Carburetor part #1282010 out of the box.

Super Streets

The ultra competitive Super Street Division is an affordable way for teams to have "real race cars" on a budget. Cost controls on the various engine and chassis parts have proved to keep teams competitive and successful for several years with the same cars! These cars are based on production rear wheel drive cars from the 1980's and feature many modifications to aid in the strength, handling and look of these fast machines.

Strictly Stock

The Entry-Level V8 Strictly Stock are another group that is growing at TSS.  These cars are Stock, as manufactured, American made sedans from the 1980's with very little modifications other than roll cages and other safety equipment.  Exciting and unpredictable, the Strictly Stocks provide a very inexpensive way for the teams to go racing in a rear wheel drive, V8 racing class.  Many young drivers choose this class as a learning step in their progress towards racing in the Super Streets, and ultimately, the Pro-Late Models.

WildCat

The Ultimate bargain-racer, the Wildcat class has proved to be wildly successful. following the outline of its V8 powered big brother, the wildcat plan is simple: STOCK! These cars are off the street 4 cylinder cars with zero performance modifications what so ever.  Costs are kept to a minimum with carefully written rules and a buy out option that allows anyone to buy a competitors car for a predetermined amount.

Sportsman

As the young driver class competing at Twin State, the Sportsman class is family racing at its finest.  Young Drivers from the ages of 12 - 16 compete with their peers in a entry level 4 cylinder car prepared with safety as the first priority.  Be prepared to find your favorite young driver, as this class is sure to be a crowd favorite!!!
